Resin

Epoxy resins are also known as epoxies resins. The prominent specifications of such resins include having an epoxy group in their molecular structure. Comparing with most hard-heat resins, the products of epoxy come with low shrinkage when baked.

The specifications of epoxies include:

  1. High chemical resistance (particularly in alkaline media).
  2. Good adherence to complexes of different beds.
  3. Very high tensile, compaction and bending strength.
  4. Low shrinkage when baking.
  5. Dimensional stability.
  6. High electricity insulation.
  7. Durability against aging and extreme environmental conditions.
  8. Ability of being baked in different temperatures.
  9. Prominent fatigue resistance.
  10. With no taste, no smell.

Epoxy resins are used widely together with honeycomb structures and fibers for stability of marble stones. Epoxy resins reinforced with carbon fibers and aramid are used for making the boats due to reduced weight and come with more space in the same stability comparing with polyester- glass.

Aramid- epoxy composites also replace the steel in war helmets.

There are different baking factors in the market with properties such as durability, flexibility, fast baking and low poisoning. The molecular structure and properties of baked resin depends on the nature of baking system. Although there are different baking systems, but they can be divided into two groups, amines and androids.
